About Me:Hey everyone, this is my website so you can all get to know me a litle better. Hi I'm Brodie Robert Houlette, born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, I'm 6'3, with my brown hair and hazel eyes. My birth date is August 8, 1985 @ 5:35pm. I'm most definitely a Leo as well, I'm a 19 year old Bachelor of Art student at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta. I'm moving down to Ottawa, Ontario in the the summer to attend Carleton University(lost my seat at McGill). My major is in Sociology and History with a sub concentration in Culture Studies. Though with Carleton this is changing to a Major in Political Science in International Relations, Minor is Sociology focusing in Social Research. I have one sister Amanda who is older than me. I work for TD Canada Trust(took a term off classes). I'm highly political and socially active. I'm a homosexual male, but don't associate well with the gay community or the gay 'image', I like the fact that I'm unique and someone different. Not looking for anyone who needs to go to the bar every weekend to validate their existance or highest ambition is to be the top of the heap in the bar. Looking for someone ambitious as I am very ambitious.
Some of my personal beliefs are:
My residence room in Ottawa has been dubbed UN House for a reason, I'm the biggest fan of the United Nations, I firmly believe in the values in which the UN was built upon. That every human as a right to peace, security and a sense of belonging. I'm a believer in Amnesty International, I believe that every human has basic and undeniable rights. Though some governments and factional leader have decided to deny these rights, we need to do all we can beyond violence to help these people. I believe in the Gandhian belief in non-violent resistance, for if we are violent, we lose the moral advance by going down to the oppressors level. I DO NOT believe in 'God' as we define it. I do believe in a force that combines us all, I don't know if it is an entity or not. I'm anti-organized religion, I believe 90% of the world's problems wouldn't exist without religion. I believe that the Media is becoming more and more a parent to our children, as parents need to work more and more to feed our consumerist needs, taught to us by society. I believe in voting in every election, as it is my voice in government, I believe in being active and complaining, then just complaining because noone listens, it's just noise. I believe in fairness and equality for all, I don't believe in War. I can not understand why we can not all get along. I believe in the power of music to heal wounds, and the power of the mind. I believe in preserving our historic and cultural sites from Corporate exploitation. I believe we consume more than we could ever need, while others go without. I believe the our market structure is inherently flawed. For Corporation believe in 'Profits Over People', I believe the government is important and valued, I believe in paying my taxes. I believe in Public Enterprise and Public Healthcare. I believe we need to more education not less for education is the cure to societial problems, I believe in One Globe with many different people on it, the Diversity of the Planet. I believe that each person is special and needs to be respected. I believe in multi-lateralism and cooperation among the world people. I believe I'm a citizen of a Planet Earth, we are all citizens of Earth, not Canadian or American or whatever political entity you associate with. I believe these are labels that we give ourselves to make us different from others. I believe in honesty and encouraging creativity. I believe in the Arts as a medium of expression, the arts are to inspire and to captivate. Not to be commericalized, I believe in Arts Education and the importance of it. I believe in helping those who are less fortunate or unable to help themselves. I believe in 'Free' and 'Sharing' and that most things not need to have a value. I believe Money and Power destroys more than it creates. This is what I believe. My Name is Brodie R. Houlette and I'm a Citizen of Earth.
